There are generally three types of intelligence that has been determined by Stanley Coren, who is the author of the book “The Intelligence of Dogs”. Firstly it is the Adaptive intelligence which is related to the capability of dog to solve problem and ability to handle critical situations. Second is the Instructive intelligence which is the intelligence related to specific individual animals. The third and the last is the Working/Obedience Intelligence which is the intelligence dependent on the breed.

1. Australian Cattle Dog

Australian Cattle dog comes first on the list of most intelligent breeds of dogs. It is basically a cattle herding dog, expert in keeping the cattle herd safe. It is widely used by the farmers in Australia and other countries to protect there cattle herd from danger situations.

2. Rottweiler

Rottweiler is a great family dog. The dog has built its reputation as a fearsome dog. They are intelligent, courageous and reliable dogs with great abilities to be guard dogs. They are widely used in rescue, search and as guide dogs.

3. Papillion

Papillion may at first seems to be very cute dogs but just don’t under estimate them as they are one of the most intelligent dog breed. They are scary and tough and possessive. They are often moody and aggressive. They are one of the easiest dogs to train.
